Okinawan patterns tend to feature an abundance of plants and colors, while the rest of Japan tends to focus more on just flowers or other objects/styles (pottery, fans, villages). This pattern was hand painted on with a very light coat. The fading was accomplished by painting over the same spot multiple times after the previous coat dried - sometimes with the same color and sometimes with a little darker color.
The flowers and leaves themselves change color, making this a truly unique and colorful kimono.
